Hey, Y’all Hey! Signing:
“Where my diags at, from the front to back, well is you fellin’ that, well put one hand up, can you repeat that,…” (Courtesy 702). If you know you know.
I am EXTREMELY excited about providing this support.
I am sharing things with you that I wish someone would have shared with me. Fortunately, I love to learn and research. It’s the sociologist in me. I conducted so much research in my undergrad years and enjoyed every minute.

How do Psychologists Define Intelligence?
There are three main abilities that play a vital role in defining intelligence. I call them the big three!
Let’s take a look at them. Enjoy!
“Catell-Horn-Carroll Theory Timeline”
As an evaluation professional it was imperative to me that I understand CHC Theory. Conducting research on CHC Theory was so fun. Please enjoy the timeline I created.
What is CHC Theory of Intelligence? Part 1
I hope this video and handout I created helps you understand The CHC Theory of Intelligence. Enjoy.
What is CHC Theory of Intelligence? Part 2
Here’s part 2 of understanding CHC Theory. Enjoy.
Cattell-Horn Carroll (CHC)Theory & Learning
I did not create this document; however, I use it in my report writing on intelligence. In my opinion, this gives a brief overview of the CHC Theory and how it is implemented during the evaluation process. I still include a detailed overview of the concepts for courts, psychologists and other personnel etc.; however, this is parent and teacher-friendly
Cognitive Ability Factors:
“How They Influence Learning & Ways to Support Your Scholars”
Here is a presentation I created sharing the relationship the seven cognitive abilities have on learning, instructional interventions, and accommodations. This is a great tool to share with teachers and a good beginning of the year presentation.
Using the Scientific Method to Conduct Evaluations
I use the scientific method to conduct evaluations. This is a great method to eliminate bias. What story does the data tell? Can I defend my findings?
Enjoy!
Other Theories of Intelligence
Let’s look at other theories of Intelligence:
- L. L. Thurstone’s Theory of Primary Mental Abilities.
- Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligence
- Robert Sternberg’s Triarchic Theory of Intelligence
Let’s Talk Accommodations!
Here is a presentation that I would present to staff. Please fell free to download it and share with your staff.
Specific Learning Disability Vs. Global Learning Deficit
The student is struggling to learn. They are not meeting passing standards on state assessments, curriculum based assessments, benchmark assessments, and the are noticeably performing lower than their peers.
Check out this PDF I created to share with teachers, parents and other stakeholders to help them understand what is going on with the student and how we can support them.
I also want to add this. Providing a child with a global learning deficit with special education services can be detrimental. Students are aware that they are not performing commensurate with their peers. Receiving extra support from special education and continuing to struggle can be demoralizing. This can result in the student giving up and negatively perceiving education and their abilities. This can also result in disruptive behaviors.
I once had a parent who was hysterical about their child being identified as one with an intellectual disability. The parent cried on the phone with me and explained that she did not know at that time what ID meant. I reviewed the report and immediately saw it was GLD, not ID. I re-evaluated, and the student was dismissed from special education. This student is now thriving, yes, they still struggle, but they try harder and are more motivated. They did not want nor respond to the extra support provided by special education. They also are no longer getting in trouble
If you pour into a glass that is already full, it overflows and makes a mess. A student with a global learning deficit does not need more (water); they need time to process what (the water) they have, then they can take more. It’s about timing.
The fox and the snail can both get to the door without assistance. One will take longer than the other.
Intellectual Disability 101
Here a a presentation I created on intellectual disability.
I truly enjoyed creating this document three years ago and sharing it with teachers, parents, and stakeholders. I just love to share what I learn.
Enjoy

Autism Support
Here are supports that I provided for Autism.
In 2018 I had the pleasure of attending the best workshop on Autism. This workshop was facilitated at Region 11 by Michael Tucker. The slides I am sharing in this presentation are his.
Auditory & Vision Impairments 101
Come learn about auditory and vision impairments.
Enjoy this presentation. Huge thank you to Ms. Olson and Mr. Rogers for taking the time to help me understand what they do and how it influences learning.
Social Behavior Mapping
As a diagnostician many people come to you wanting assistance with behavior concerns. My recommendation is to share with them social behavior mapping. I included some beneficial sociology concepts in the document I created.
